«The bigger the dream, the more interesting life you will live!» – writes Viktar Babaryka from the KGB pre-trial detention center, where on November 9th he meets his 57. We really miss talking with him. Miss his incredible stories. We have collected fragments from letters in which Viktar Dmitrievich continues to inspire us:
I was very lucky: I met and acquainted many wonderful people, but 2020 was a special year. These people surrounded me with a tight friendly and working ring, and now this ring has sustained without me. It means everything is OK! And it will be even better!
Belarusians fall in love with Belarusians. That is the nicest words anyone has ever said to me. This is the most important thing: “Be called people!” If I’m somehow involved in this, it’s worth a lot. After all, life should belong not to just you, it’s great when you help others to live. Then you have a piece of another person’s new life.
At my age, it is a bit awkward to confess my love for The Lord of the Rings. But I can’t cover up the truth – I love it. I fell in love with this novel in the distant 80s – 90s of the last century, it excuses me. But how can you not love such thoughts that “The weak have changed the world more than once, faithfully serving their duty, when the strong were too weak”. Or the simple idea that “Devotion is occasionally better than wisdom and courage”.
I want to believe that people have become interested in what kind of country they were born and live in. There is only one step left – and they will believe that it can be the way they want it to be! Faith works wonders 🙂

I would like to personally thank everyone who cared about me. The more people are like that, the easier it is for me to maintain good spirits and body.
