Appeal submitted by defense was denied. The lawyers will appeal the decision in the Minsk City Court and continue to fight for the release of Masha and Max.

Representatives of the embassies of Germany, Austria, USA, and Sweden attended Maria’s appeal hearing today. Earlier, an appeal in support of Maria was submitted by the Vice-President of the Bundestag Kladia Roth, as well as the ex-Minister of the Interior Gerhart Baum.

Maxim Znak’s colleagues continue to demand his release and termination of criminal prosecution. The petition has already been signed by 174 Belarusian lawyers. This is a unique example of collegial solidarity among lawyers. Earlier, more than 50 of Max’s colleagues signed statements of personal surety and came to court with the intention of acting as guarantors in order to change the measure of restraint applied to their colleague.

Maxim is persecuted for expressing professional opinion, Masha – for her civil position. None of them called for actions aimed at harming the national security of Belarus.

Find out how you can support Maria and Maxim: write letters to them so they know that we – on the outside – continue to fight for the release of all political prisoners every day. We are united!
